As the basketball season winds down, the challenges the boys and girls basketball teams have set for themselves are to win every end-of-the-season tournament! Regular season games are almost over with the boys varsity basketball team remaining undefeated, and the girls varisty basketball suffering only one loss.
On February 7 the tournament season began with the NISSA Championships. Both the boys and girls teams brought home first place trophies! It was the girls junior varsity team's turn on February 21 when the SGIS Category B tournament was held at TASIS. Although only Zurich and ISZL fielded teams, the junior varisty girls beat both teams to finish in first place. Many of the girls had returned early from their Academic Travel 10th Grade Outward Bound trip in order to be here to play.
In the coming weeks the SGIS Varsity basketball tournaments and also the ESC (European Sports Conference) tournaments will be held. Our TASIS swimmers and downhill skiers will also be competing in SGIS events. After the successful fall athletic season with a number of trophies being won, Athletic Director Sonny Lim has a "good problem" on his hands! He has no more space in the trophy case, and fingers crossed there will be more trophies to add soon!
Varsity Boys take 1st place in NISSA Basketball tournament on February 7, 2015.
