TASIS has been offering the IB Program since 1996. Students have the opportunity to achieve the full IB Diploma or take individual courses and exams.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program was established to provide an intellectually rigorous and academically demanding common curriculum for students in schools around the world: an "international passport" to higher education. Its strengths come from the best of many national educational systems. The IB is a comprehensive and rigorous two-year curriculum leading to examinations for students aged between 16 and 19. The general objectives of the IB are to provide students with a balanced education, to facilitate geographic and cultural mobility, and to promote international understanding through a shared academic experience.

Full Diploma students choose six academic subjects, three of which must be at Higher Level and three at Standard Level. Each of the six subjects is marked on a scale of 1 (minimum) to 7 (maximum). The award of the Diploma requires a minimum total of 24 points plus satisfactory completion of the core requirements: an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and participation in Creativity Action Service (CAS). Three extra points can be obtained from a combination of the TOK essay/presentation and the Extended Essay. The maximum score for an IB Diploma is 45 points. There are special conditions regarding the award of a diploma for those students who obtain between 24 and 27 points.

Two groups of students should consider the IB Diploma: those who need it for entrance or acceptance to their universities of choice, and those who seek a challenging course of study. Students are expected to be in good academic standing before starting and during the IB Program. However, students with lower grades who are willing to work hard also have much to gain from pursuing the IB Diploma.
