HS Weekly Bulletin | September 20, 2019
Posted 09/20/2019 01:00PM

It is still not too late to act. It will take a far-reaching vision, it will take courage, it will take fierce, fierce determination to act now, to lay the foundations where we may not know all the details about how to shape the ceiling. In other words, it will take cathedral thinking. I ask you to please wake up and make changes required possible.

The inaugural Terry Fox Run at TASIS

2019 Terry Fox Run on October 16

The third annual TASIS Terry Fox Run will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 16. The run is designed to honor the legacy of international hero Terry Fox—an extraordinary athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist who in 1980 embarked upon a Marathon of Hope across Canada after losing his right leg to cancer three years earlier, ultimately covering 5,373 kilometers (or 127.3 marathons) in just 143 days before the spread of his cancer forced him to abandon his quest and claimed his life.

For the run on October 16, Cross Country coaches Greg Birk and Danny Schiff have challenged High School students to complete as many 500-meter laps as possible on the School’s Grotto Cross Country course in a 45-minute window and are asking them to consider making donations that will be gifted to the Terry Fox Foundation.

To learn more about this TASIS tradition, read about the first two Terry Fox Runs on the TASIS website: 2017 and 2018.

Any parents who would like to learn how they can be involved with this community-building event are welcome to contact Mr. Birk at greg.birk@tasis.ch.
