Student Activities Offered this Weekend

This weekend’s activities include games in the Snack Bar on Friday evening, a full-day trip to Interlaken on Saturday, and a community dog walk in the Montagnola trails or bagels and music on the De Nobili terrace on Sunday afternoon. 

Weekend activities are open to all day and boarding students. Students should consult the HS Daily Bulletin for sign-up information and more details about each activity.

A note About High School Attendance

For parents of day students:
To inform the High School of an absence (for the full academic day, single classes, or after-school activities), please go to the Student Attendance & Transportation Request area of the Veracross Parent Portal as soon as possible and provide details of the absence. Please be specific, make sure to choose the correct date, and always provide the reason. An absence may only be excused by the School, which reserves the right to determine whether an absence is excused or unexcused.

  • Tardy: If the student is late in the morning, provide what time he or she will come to school.
  • Partial Absence during the day (some classes missed due to a medical visit, family emergency, document renewal, etc): Provide the time when the student has to be dismissed and the time he or she will return to school—or specify the classes that will be missed in the notes field.
  • Early Dismissal: Provide the time the student has to be dismissed and note whether he or she will be back for an after-school activity.
  • Whole-Day Absence and Multi-Day Absence:If a student is sick for more than three days, send a note from a doctor explaining the circumstances to

TPA Hike & Lunch on October 9

The TPA invites you to join hike leaders Vittoria Marazzi and Francesca Varano on a beautiful 90-minute hike—with a stop for lunch at Ristorante Vicania in Vico Morcote before heading back to the point of origin. Everyone is welcome! Come make new friends and join old ones!

TPA Autumn Aperitifs on October 10

This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet TASIS families while enjoying sweeping views and a delicious selection of food and beverages.

Save the Date: TPA Used Uniform Sale on October 11 

Fall into spectacular savings at the TPA Used Uniform Sale by the Monticello arches on Friday, October 11 (time to be determined). All proceeds from this TPA fundraiser will go toward events organized for our students.

Shuttle Schedule on October 11

Please note that there will be a few changes to the MS/HS shuttle schedule on Friday, October 11, as class schedules for MS and HS students have been adjusted to accommodate the start of Family Weekend. Please note the following: 

  • Shuttles for MS and HS students will depart at 14:30.
  • MS and HS car riders will depart between 14:30–14:45.

  • ES shuttles will depart at their usual time of 16:00.
  • ES car riders will depart between 16:00–16:15 (as usual).

Fall Academic Travel 

This coming Monday, all High School students will have their Academic Travel destinations posted on Veracross. Destinations are assigned based on students' academic profiles. The first trip meetings will be next Friday morning, and there will be two additional meetings before the trips depart. During these meetings, students will receive all the information they need to prepare for their trips.

Trip Dates:

  • Outward Bound (all of grade nine): October 26–November 1
  • Language Homestays and Azores IB I Environmental Systems: October 27–November 1
  • All other trips: October 28–November 1

Academic Travel Dress Code will be a relaxed version of the school uniform, meaning TASIS polos and TASIS-approved pants must be worn but sneakers will be allowed.

TASIS Cultural Events Program: Upcoming Events

The TASIS Cultural Events Program is designed to provide valuable cultural opportunities both on and off campus that are geared toward aspiring student artists.

All members of the TASIS community (students, faculty, staff, parents, friends of the School) are welcome to attend cultural events that take place on campus. All off-campus trips, however, are reserved for High School students and faculty chaperones.

College Counseling News

Upcoming event for parents of students in grade 9:

  • Description: This informal meeting will provide parents of 9th-grade students an opportunity to meet the college counseling staff and learn about the comprehensive college counseling program and college counseling resources available to all TASIS students.

  • Description: This informal program for parents of 10th-grade students will explain the overall college planning process and college counseling support and resources provided by TASIS. There will also be an explanation of the various curriculum choices available to TASIS students as 11th graders and the importance of proper curriculum choice to match and maximize each student's university options.

This is a reminder that the TPA is now selling BPA-free refillable water bottles for CHF 30, with all proceeds going toward TPA events organized on behalf of our students.
