Middle School History Teacher

  • Bachelor’s degree; master's degree preferred
  • History degree preferred
  • Middle School History teaching experience in a public or private school setting, including work with highly capable students
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process at the middle school level
  • Excellent knowledge of subject matter
  • Ability to foster a love for history in students
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate non-fiction writing into history
  • Ability to nurture respectful relationships with students and parents; must be sensitive to the cultural needs of the population served
  • Demonstrated talent in the instruction of students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery
  • Demonstrated success in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
  • Swiss criminal record report no more than six months old (TASIS arranges)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Native English speaker


  • Collaborate with Middle School Academic Dean and Department Head
  • Teach subject area according to curriculum guidelines set forth by the school
  • Further develop and refine a high-level, challenging curriculum in subject area
  • Collaborate with other faculty in the delivery of appropriate instructional approaches, working to serve the various learning styles and needs of students
  • Implement curriculum and instruction in a manner consistent with TASIS Mission Statement, including understanding, modeling, and fostering independent thinking skills, creative problem solving, and abstract reasoning
  • Assess student performance frequently and objectively
  • Promote ethical behavior to demonstrate responsible conduct by students and staff
  • Develop a cooperative partnership with parents and students based on mutual respect and objectivity


  • Annual full-time contract
  • Salary commensurate with experience and education
