With a large Family Weekend crowd in attendance, the TASIS Boys Volleyball team notched another victory with a convincing 2-0 win over the American School of Milan (ASM) in the Palestra on Saturday afternoon.
In the first set, the Tigers showed they have improved significantly since their last match with ASM by outhustling their opponent and gaining the momentum early. Taking advantage of a number of passing and hitting errors on the part of ASM, TASIS started off with an impressive 13-3 lead. Ivan Kozhuhar '21 (five kills, two aces) dominated the net and kept the pressure on with a barrage of spikes while Ivan Linnikov '22 and Josh Galmarini '20 contributed with serving runs of seven and five, respectively. After a side-out at 14-6, Kozhuhar finished off the first set with a 10-serve run supported by strong blocking and spiking from Nadir Timerbaev '19 (four kills) and Linnikov (two kills).
In the second set, ASM found its rhythm, but TASIS kept the pressure on. With strong offense from Zhantimir Sarsenov '21, Linnikov, and Timerbaev, TASIS was able to grind out a six-point lead over a series of hard-fought volleys. Mid-way through the set—with the score at 18-12—Kozhuhar made a six-serve run to make it 24-12 and all but clinch the set. Following a side-out and service error from ASM, the Tigers secured their sixth straight victory with a 25-13 win in the second set.
