Volleyball - Girls (V)
vs. American School of Milan (ASM)
|Date:||October 13, 2018|
Taking on rival American School of Milan (ASM) for the Varsity Girls Volleyball team’s first home game this season made for an exciting and tense game. The Tigers got off to a rocky start, falling behind 13-0. After losing to TASIS at home two weeks ago, ASM came out with a lot of determination in this match and put the Tigers on their heels. Although they made a comeback, the Tigers could not come back from the rough start and lost the first set 25-9.
However, our girls were not defeated yet. As the second set began, the Tigers clearly started communicating and moving better. Led by strong attacks from Valentina Correa da Silva ’19 and a morale-raising block by Ella Hauptman '20, the girls regained the momentum and won the second set 25-12. The third set may have been one of the most intense sets in recent history. Great saves by Isabela Lima Felipe '19 kept the girls in the set when ASM held the match point at 14-11, and the girls did not give up. Under the immense pressure of losing the match if she missed, Cristina Estevez '19 calmly delivered three strong serves to tie the game at 14-14. With the game tied at match point, the first team to get a two-point lead would prevail. With points going back and forth, the Tigers managed to pull out a 20-18 victory. Congratulations to the girls for not giving up and showing their determination to win this intense game.
