Academic Travel Program
TASIS pioneered the concept of Academic Travel in 1956. Our students have been exploring Europe ever since.
Committed to academic excellence, we have made our natural and cultural setting in Europe our classroom. Twice a year, all Middle School and High School students take Academic Travel trips that are related to courses of study, particular student interests, or grade levels. An integral part of the curriculum, Academic Travel is required and included within tuition fees.
Weekend Trips
Many weekends, faculty members offer weekend trips on a sign-up basis, usually making use of the school's fleet of vans. The School subsidizes these trips, but students have to meet some of the cost out of their own spending allowance. In addition to visiting major cultural centers such as Florence, Venice, Rome, and Zurich, students also have the opportunity to go on many kinds of outdoor trips, including river rafting, canyoning, camping, hiking, or rock climbing.
Winter Holiday
The School is closed at this time and students must leave campus. An alternative travel program is not offered.
Spring Break
The school is closed at this time and students must leave campus. Some students will go on Global Service trips or other optional trips (either one or two weeks in length).
Independent Travel
Juniors, seniors, and postgraduates in good academic standing may travel independently on weekends (at their own expense) to take advantage of the cultural diversity of Europe.
